Akihiko “Alan” Seki is a distinguished photographer and author, celebrated for his evocative images and insightful books on Japanese culture and architecture. His international experiences in cities like London, Nairobi, Los Angeles, Singapore, and Bangkok has provided him with a unique perspective on Japan’s beauty.
After retiring, Seki focused on photography, publishing several notable collections through Tuttle Publishing in Singapore. His renowned works include “Asian Resorts,” “Ryokan,” and “The Japanese Spa,” which capture the essence of Japanese aesthetics.
His collaboration with architect Thomas Daniell on “Houses and Gardens of Kyoto” highlights his ability to showcase Kyoto’s architecture and landscapes. This book is praised for its stunning photographs and well-researched text, making it a valuable addition to any collection on Japanese culture and design.
